Martinsville Man Dies in Hit and Run While Riding Motorcycle


UPDATE: Around 4 PM Tuesday afternoon a release from the State Police confirmed they had recovered the suspect’s vehicle and identified the driver. No names have been released.

Virginia State Police Trooper J. L. Lovell is investigating a fatal hit and run crash in Henry County which occurred on September 3, 2016.  At 11:38 a 2006 Suzuki motorcycle was traveling north on Route 220 at the Route 58 by-pass and was struck by an unknown vehicle believed to be white sedan that would now be missing part of the left front bumper cover on the driver’s side. The driver of the motorcycle was in the roadway and was then struck by a 2007 Mazda CX-7 which was also traveling north on Route 220.

The driver of the Suzuki M109R was Jeffery Curtis Hairston, 58, of Martinsville, Va. Hairston was wearing a helmet and died at the scene.
