Police Investigating Vandalism to Political Signs

The Henry County Sheriff’s Office has been made aware of vandalisms to political signs. We are investigating these incidents and remind people these signs have a monetary value and when they are damaged or destroyed, it is a criminal offense.

While elections certainly stir emotions for and against candidates, it is the right of each property owner to have a sign of their choosing on their property. We hope people will respect this and exercise their right to vote on Election Day without vandalizing signs. In an effort to investigate and stop this, the Henry County Sheriff’s Office will be using cameras in several locations to catch whoever is responsible.

Anyone having information regarding the destruction of political signs is asked to contact the Henry County Sheriff’s Office at 276-638-8751 or Crimestoppers at 63-CRIME (632-7463). The Crimestoppers Program offers rewards up to $2500.00 for information related to crime. The nature of the crime and the substance of the information determine the amount of reward paid.
